Our Therapists
Aimee Wood is a licensed social worker with over 8 years of experience in the field in a variety of settings. Aimee is an individual, couples, and sex therapist with a specialization in sex therapy, relationship issues, and grief and loss. Aimee's primary areas of clinical focus include anxiety and depression, codependency, premarital therapy, childhood trauma, sexual pain, and sexual trauma.
Aimee has experience providing therapeutic services to diverse populations in a hospital setting, as well as in-home, and court (on behalf of the District Attorney's office of Philadelphia). Aimee has worked directly with a local college in crisis, in response to suicide and related depression and grief. Aimee has experience developing and facilitating support groups in the Philadelphia area, primarily related to grief and loss, and is currently facilitating a support group for individuals living with HSV-I and HSV-2.
Aimee works primarily from a strengths-based perspective, believing all clients have something positive to build on, and potential to grow. Aimee works with the client's perspective in identifying these strengths in order to utilize them and correct unhealthy behaviors and negative thought patterns. Aimee uses cognitive behavioral strategies to challenge distorted thinking, address problematic behaviors, identify emotions connected in order to develop more effective alternative behaviors.
Aimee received her master's degree at Temple University, and later received additional training in couples and sex therapy, and received her post-graduate certification in Marriage and FamilyTherapy at Council for Relationships, in Philadelphia. Aimee is a member of the National Association for Social Workers/Private Practice specialty, PA chapter.
